| Job Summary: | Under the guidance of the Purchasing Department Team Leader, is responsible for sourcing and purchasing all types of mechanical parts that include: castings, low, medium, high precision machined parts that are milled or turned, fasteners, gears, pulleys, movement devices, sheet metal, weldment fabrications, or anything else that is mechanical in nature. |

| Description: | 1. Buyer will negotiate yearly contracts for components by using lean principles
2. Enter and maintain Vendor Cross reference files (includes verifying technical descriptions with engineering drawings) for all components.
3. Enter and maintain all purchase orders and related purchasing activities as they relate and are needed to the BIS System.
4. Performs additional routine purchasing functions such as mail opening, file maintenance, etc.
5. Acts upon Order Action reports within a timely period ? typically 1 working day.
6. Resolves all NCMR issues for those commodities assigned within 3 working days. This includes all processes and procedures required to replace, return, and or repair parts from assigned supplier sources.
7. Constantly evaluates parts and assemblies, and recommends possible other candidates or assemblies that can be purchased from approved global sources of supply.
8. Contributes to the goal of ensuring the highest QUALITY product is obtained, with the best on time delivery, at the lowest unit cost, for those parts and assemblies assigned to this job code.
9. Interfaces with Product Engineering when needed to ensure an accurate and timely implementation of new parts, revisions, or other tasks required to outsourced assemblies.
10. Reports PPV, variances, progress, or anything else that applies to this position in a formal, and timely manner as required by the Purchasing Department Team Leader, Quality Engineer/Procurement Manager, or VP Manufacturing |
| Qualifications: | A 2 to 4 year Engineering degree with 2- 4 years work experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment is preferred. This requirement may be offset by tenure, term, working knowledge, or other experiences within the commodity. In addition:
1. Must have the ability to independently develop solutions to complex or unique assignments involving broad objectives that have significant lack of problem definition.
2. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings of sometimes-complex nature, especially electronic component data specification sheets. GD&T is a must.
3. Working knowledge of a BIS system such as Syteline.
4. Working knowledge of MS Windows, MS Excel, Word, is a must.
5. Must be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
6. Must be well-organized and highly professional in attitude, dress, and the methods of interacting with all fellow employees. |
